Waqqas Mir, LL.B (University of London), LL.M (Harvard Law School, USA – Fulbright Scholar), is an Advocate of the High Court, a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn and is based in the Lahore office of Mohsin Tayebaly & Co. Prior to joining this firm, Waqqas was a partner at another Lahore-based firm and has also previously served as a Joint Director at the Competition Commission of Pakistan. Waqqas regularly advises and represents the private sector as well as government institutions on a broad range of adversarial and non-adversarial matters. On the litigation side, his practice focuses on civil, commercial/banking, company law, regulatory law, competition law and constitutional law litigation. In 2015, he was appointed amicus curiae on three separate occasions before the Lahore High Court in important cases relating to constitutional and commercial issues. Waqqas also has a significant amount of experience working on commercial transactions and he regularly advises (local and foreign) corporate clients on matters ranging from simple incorporation for purposes of entering the Pakistani market to more complex issues such as mergers and acquisitions, merger control, regulatory compliance as well as issues relating to public-private partnerships.
